Optical Song February 13, 2007

I’d never heard of fan-create music videos. In this age of YouTube and tools that make creating videos easy it is obvious. My introduction came from my sister, who is just a little bit cooler than I am (but not that much).

The band Whitest Boy Alive had it done to one of their songs: Golden Cage. The song is actually pretty good; I’d not heard of it or the band before. And the video is lots of fun — it is a series of optical illusions one after the other set in time with the music.

The video link is to the site pitchforkmedia, which is a great non-mainstream music site. I love this site, except that I never have time to read it!

Speaking of which, does anyone use eMusic for downloads? I like a lot of the non-mainstream music and eMusic has a great selection. And their songs don’t have DRM at all. If you do use it, how do you figure out what songs to download? Do you read other sites?

Actually, I’d be as cool as she is if I also lived in Brooklyn
