Busted Computers Seem to Follow Me August 17, 2006

CIMG8299Less than two weeks after I arrived at my mother-in-laws house her computer died. She immediately blamed me: I’d played with the network configuration in the house to allow Paula and I to share her network connection. And, she said, I replaced her son (Nick) in my ability to break her computer. Turns out it was a bad power supply (thank goodness, as she hasn’t been backing up her pictures or her accounts or her email in a long time!!).

When Nick and I replaced the power supply we figured we should blow some of the dust out of these three year old computer. Sadly, we didn’t have any liquid air… we used the next best thing: the house vacuum cleaner.

Is it any wonder things break around me?

Holy cow: there is a whole web page on dust and computers!
