A while back I attended a thesis defense on the subject of hand gesture recognition. At the end of that I ran into a Computer Science Engineering professor fellow I knew from the orientation program for new professors. Steve mentioned he was working on some cool software that would take various 3D pictures and create a 3D view. He said something about “soon”. Well, looks like he did it. It is called Photosynth is the name of the program that is taking his ideas and turning them into software. And judging by all the stuff going by in the blog-o-sphere he and everyone else on that team did a really good job! Congratulations! Ars has a great write-up, with pointers to videos of the software in action.
