Sunset & Thunderheads June 10, 2006

Chicago ThunderheadsStorms usually make me nervous while flying. We flew through a system on the way into Chicago the other day. The thunderheads were like tines on a comb – there were rows of these thunderheads and our pilot guided us between them. We could almost reach out and touch the thunderheads – lots of lightning lighting up the clouds and I’m sure thunder if we could have heard it. The clouds in combination with the setting sun was quite stunning. This picture doesn’t do it justice of course…

Despite all this activity, and being so close (?? – sense of scale is way off up here) to it, the ride was smooth as glass.
