Tornado! April 14, 2006

Tornado WarningI've worked at Fermilab full time for almost 10 years, and I've been traveling back and forth to it frequently for another 6. And I've never heard a tornado warning (I did see one, however).

Until about 30 minutes ago. Each building in Fermilab is completely wired with a tornado warning system (we have lots of offices in trailers). It blared out with static and that skshshshshsh sound. A little nerve racking considering a voice is supposed to come on that tells us what is going on.

But, check out the weather map. Batavia is just to the west of the bottom of the lake. Totally clear! Weird.

I guess what they are worried about are those storms to the south. We'll have to see.
